We Wish You a Magdalen Street Christmas
Christmas is now less than a month away
and if you’re like us, there’s a 90% chance you haven’t started your Christmas
shopping yet. But, fear not! We have a selection of gifts that would be perfect
stocking fillers for your loved ones.
Some of you may not know that we have a
range called ‘Sourced by Oxfam’ (SBO), where products are made using
recycled/reclaimed materials – giving them a second life in a new product.
Oxfam source these materials guaranteeing a selection of goods that are in line
with Oxfam’s ethical purchasing policy and from this they have selected some
great items from our fair trade producers, keeping the focus on showcasing
traditional crafts and recycled materials.
Tyre frame: £7.99, Cufflinks: £7.99 |
So, what do we have to offer?
We have a quirky photo frame made from
recycled tyres that we think would be the perfect, homely gift for someone. As
each one is made from old tyres, they’re unique in the sense that each frame
will feature a different tread pattern. But, it is also a talking point too! Due
to it being part of our SBO range, by purchasing this as a gift you are also
supporting artisans and their families with education and medical treatment in
India. Following a similar transport theme, returning to our shop we have a
previous best-seller – cufflinks! They are made from old bike-chains which are
also handmade by Indian artisans.
Rug: £14.99, Calendar: £3.99, Coffee: from £3.49 |
Now,
although we said Christmas is under a month away, the start of advent is less
than a week away! In store, we have
our Divine Fairtrade chocolate calendars that are only £3.99 as featured in our
picture – perfect for children (or even adults!) Also featured in store is a
dark chocolate version that prices at £4.99, which is also vegan. Sitting
underneath the calendar is a beautiful hand-made rug. Again, this is something
that’s part of our SBO range and is made from old (but beautiful) saris – allowing
it a new life as a rug. On top of this, they’ve also been given a new life as a
bunting, star decorations, patchwork squares and a sari pom-pom garland. Like
the tyre frame, each sari item is wonderfully unique and are handwoven by
Indian artisans.
Purse: £4.99, Make-up bag: £6.99 |
For something a little different to what
we’ve already showed you, we have beautifully crafted purses. They’re
fantastically bright and come in two different sizes both having a pink woollen
zip. In the foreground, we have the coin purse which is a fairly generous size,
so could easily fit in your cards too! Behind, is our slightly larger,
rectangular make up purse.
Phone pouch: £4.99, Wash bag: £6.99, Pencil case: £4.99, Boxed candle: £5.99, Diffuser: £5.99 |
Similarly, in a different design we have
a wash bag, phone purse and pencil case – all sporting a blue woollen zip. They
all perfectly match the boxed candles and diffusers – so why not pair them
together for the ultimate gift?
Veggiestan: £15.99 |
Got a friend who loves to show off in
the kitchen? We’ve got the ideal gifts for them. From cooking ramen to
embarking on a vegetarian tour of the middle east – help them take their skills
to the next level with cook books from our Sourced by Oxfam range.
What we’re trying to say is that we have
a gift here, in store, for everyone. And we have much more to offer than what
has been shown in this post. There is also a fantastic range of fair-trade food
items, collapsible and reusable water bottles, eco-coffee cups and much, much
more. It doesn’t just start and end with our ‘new’ products though, we have a
vast amount of donated items that are brand new that can also be the perfect
gift for someone you know. There’s also the added bonus that the gifts you buy
from us, are also giving back and contributing to the battle against poverty,
they are gifts that give for good.
So, next time you’re in town – pop into
our lovely store on Magdalen Street, appreciate the pretty sight of the river
on your way, and come treasure hunting with us. You’ll never know what you’ll
find until you do.
